PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is deducted from employment income each month. Since the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, your NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy, and registered pension contributions are deducted from gross pay before tax bands apply. The bands below (Finance Act 2023) then tax the balance progressively, and personal relief of KES 2,400 is subtracted from the result.
